WEEK 7: ABRAHAM’S LEGACY

Written by Alyssa Sutor, Early Childhood Director

BIBLE STORY: Genesis 25

BIG IDEA: Abraham dies and leaves behind his legacy of many children and nations, just as God promised.

KEY VERSE:

“Abraham lived a total of 175 years. He took his last breath and died when he was very old. He had lived a very long time. Then he joined the members of his family who had already died.”

-Genesis 25:7-8 NIrV

OVERVIEW: Abraham lived a long life with many children just as God had promised him. God blessed him because of his faithfulness. His legacy is represented in this chapter, which tells us the names of his children as well as his age when he died – 175 years old! Sometimes it takes a long time to for us to get what we want, but just because it may take a while, doesn’t mean we should give up. God kept his promise to Abraham because Abraham was faithful to God.

ACTIVITY: Sing “Father Abraham” and do the motions. Here is a YouTube video to watch: parkview.cc/kidstable7

You can also make a family tree of your family to explain “legacy” and how through one person so many people can be connected.
