Day 25

The Table Campaign, 35 Day Devotional

Jill Clouse, Parkview Volunteer

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.

– Psalm 37:5-6

In my day job, I work with people looking to change or grow their career in some capacity. The commitment to a job search can be overwhelming. Yet, like any overwhelming task, breaking it down into smaller parts can make it more manageable and less daunting. A small task each day can add up to big progress with our commitments in our daily lives.

Just as we break down big commitments into small tasks on our to do lists, our commitments to God can be “small” but add up to something big. Stepping out in faith with a commitment can be overwhelming. But what if we start by committing to talk to Him about it—a little bit each day? Start with the commitment to pray for direction and guidance to see where God leads. As you continue to pray, trust that you can begin to step out in faith and act on those prayers, just a bit at a time. Before you know it, your small daily commitments will compound into big victories.

What commitments have you made that seemed so big you didn’t know where to start?

What will you do differently as you approach commitments in the future?

Dear Lord, lay on my heart the commitments you need me to make. Bring me peace to fulfilling those
